Conclusion

The End of the Road

     This blog has been my first. Therefore, I learned a bit of how to do one. Also was a great tool to look at myself. There is sometimes no time to think about the topics I talked about. Perhaps, also they are not something that I would be thinking of. For example, I did not even though before who was my favorite celebrity or what I thought about education.  However, now I can say that is Kevin McAllister and education make us a better thinker.

     I hope my perspective of such themes, as I mentioned in the introduction, can help someone for better. Maybe use it as a base to create a different judgment. Also, this kind of activity is helpful to develop ourselves by looking for information and thinking about different topics. However, in my case, it was also helpful to develop myself in my secondary language. Anyway, this is all and I hope once again those who read this far did not leave empty handed.

The World

World Peace through Love

     I have not seen the world. The only little piece I have seen is where I live and another island next to it. However, these two places there still more I have not seen. On the other hand, I have chatted with some people from different part of the world. I know is not everyone, but every single one has affection for another person or thing.

     Love is strong and that’s great, but it can be bad. Mahatma Gandhi said, “The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace.” In other words, peace can’t prevail if the hunger for power is stronger than love for each other. Corruption for this need to control something is what triggers wars, fights, among others. I agree with Gandhi, I have felt love and when it is real and not something else, it can overcome anything.

Education

The Education as a Tool to Live

     We learn everyday something either the easy way or the hard way. I love the hard way, because is the one that prevails the most. Also, school teach us how to think. With this we can solve many problems as if it was a tool meant for that. However, if we don’t have such tool our life will be stuck.

    I was told many times, when I was young, that education was needed for a future, a career. On the other hand, I was never told it also makes ourselves become a better thinker. In other words, is able to awake on us that spark that make us able to think through the problems of our life more deeply. Like John Adams said “There are two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live.” In conclusion, if education is important to live it also as well, to love.

Movies

Favorite Science-Fiction Movies This Year

     I love to watch science-fiction movies. This year the movie “Lucy” was amazing. This sci-fi movie is about a woman that unlocks 100 percent of her mental capacity. Therefore, as she is reaching that point new abilities are shown. For example, telekinesis, mental time travel, among others.

     The powers are cool, but what she does with them is even more amazing and shocking. With these powers she was able to answer the purpose of humanity. In other words, the reason that life was given to us. Therefore, we can do what was meant to be done and finally have an overall purpose in life. I know the movie it’s a product of imagination; however, it’s pretty amazing to create a fiction, which for a second made me thought it could be possible one day by the evolution of the human race. 

A Celebrity

Favorite Childhood Celebrity

     My favorite childhood celebrity was Macaulay Carson Culkin. He played the role as Kevin McAllister in "Home Alone."  I loved this character, because he was around my age when I watched it. Also, he was able to do amazing things. For example, he could manage to beat strong enemies by himself with a good plan. Therefore, he taught me that through planning beforehand it’s possible to achieve amazing results.

     I will always remember him by the role he played in this movie. He played the role so well I thought it was real. Anyway, I hope it still teach other kids about the good values that are present in it. I know it teach how to be bad in some way, but after all the movies ends with a good theme that teaches good values. For example, Home Alone 2 taught me the meaning of friendship with the pigeon lady when he gave her a little present that meant so much for them.

     

Media

  TV as a Factor of Violence

     According to bussinessdictionary media are “communication channels through which news, entertainment, education, data, or promotional messages are disseminated. Media includes every broadcasting and narrow-casting medium such as newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, billboards, direct mail, telephone, fax, and internet. Media is the plural of medium and can take a plural or singular verb, depending on the sense intended.” In other words, it’s everywhere. We depend on it so much that we can say its part of our culture. Therefore, it has a big influence on us, which can possible numb a person's view of violence.

     Violence according to merriamwebster, "the use of physical force to harm someone, to damage property, etc." In other words, media can influence us to point that we see this physical force to harm other as something more normal than it should be.  For example, a person watched a lot of violence through the TV and in it saw a person that punched someone, because that person calls him/her names once. In consequence, this person might think violence use like that it’s enough reason to use it. Also, it can influence us in our vocabulary with swear words. Consequently, using such vocabulary will be normal, because it seems so often through the TV. In conclusion, TV can be a factor, but probably not the main cause of violence we see in our world.

Marriage

Sudden Marriage Leads to Divorce

     Marriage according to merriam-webster, "the relationship that exists between a husband and a wife" and divorce, "the ending of a marriage by a legal process." This means, marriage must exist to be able to commit divorce. Many of the marriages end in failure. For example, in the United States according to the American Psychological Association about 40 to 50 percent of married couples ends in divorce. In other words, only 50% to 60% of the married couples have a happy relationship, does not believe in divorce or any other reason to not do it.

     Why so many marriages end in divorce? I believe ignorance is the main cause. In other words, marry an impressive actor or actress and not the one behind playing that role. Helen Rowland said, “When two people decide to get a divorce, it isn't a sign that they "don't understand" one another, but a sign that they have, at last, begun to.” Therefore, is not right to think about marriage without the knowledge of who that person really is. It’s a big decision and like any other it will mark our lives in either path we choose.

Religion

     The Base of Religions
                                                              

     Religion according to Merriam-Webster,"an organized system of beliefs, ceremonies, and rules used to worship a god or a group of gods." In other words, it’s a good structured actions or thoughts that are based in beliefs.  This is a "feeling of being sure that someone or something exists or that something is true'', according to Merriam-Webster. Which means it all depends on the follower’s feeling if it’s real or not whatever it state any religion. Therefore, faith is all we need to have to be in a religion.

     I found a quote from biblegodquotes.com that said, “If God didn't forgive sinners heaven would be empty.’’ Therefore, everyone have sin once on their life at some point. We are not perfect and our souls depend on God’s forgiveness. I really don’t like to talk about religions, because it’s not something I want to show around. Also, it might disrespect someone’s believes. So going to end by saying that we can believe or have faith in anything to save our souls, but we can’t forget our good values as we do that.

War

Weapons Advances

     War is not new for us. It had happened before. We have seen the results are getting worst as our technology advances. Albert Einstein said “I know not what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.” This means that World War III will force us to revolutionize until a point all technology left will be stick and stones.

     It is scary how weapons are developing in an amazing rate. For example, nuclear bombs which have been tested a lot. Hopefully, it won’t turn the aim back to us; because, if it does, it will have an enormous impact that will affect negatively centuries of development.  It does not make sense to progress so much for then later destroy all of it. However, it’s inevitable to not progress, because if we don’t we will loss in this world of competition.

Death

Death Is Not the End

     Death is inevitable. At some point we will die. What can we do cheat it? Chuck Palahniuk said, ‘’We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.” Creating something that will live after we die it’s not easy, but it will be worth to do so. Been able to leave behind a mark in time of who we were and knowing our life to live in it is insignificant, it’s awesome.

     The world we live won’t know we existed if we didn’t anything that was big enough to remain in someone’s memory. Existence is that cruel. Many of us look for it, since that proves somehow that we are alive, that we exist. For example, Miguel de Unamuno desired to live forever and he did it with his literature. In other words, we shall do something that people will remember us for, because at the end, that’s all that it will be left of us. 

Happiness

    Happiness in Relationships

     Most of the series I had watched it shows love only as happiness. I believe it is, but to be honest, is not always like that. Happiness it’s a reaction, which eventually will fade. On other words, it will not be always present. Achieving it as a frequently rate can be done by knowing what is causing unhappiness in the relationship.

     The non-presence of unhappiness in a relationship is happiness. Therefore, both most exist somehow. For example, light can’t exist without the darkness or vice versa. Embracing the idea that happiness is the only outcome of it, it will lead to a short lasting relationship. I learned that knowing more about each other helps to prevent suffering. This is why communication in a relationship it’s so important to achieve happiness in it.

The Beginning of the Road

     Hi, my name is Kevin J. Rosario Rivera and I am nineteen years old. Also, I am a student of the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey. In this blog I am going to be talking about various themes, such as happiness, death, war, among others. I will be posting every week taking them one by one from now on until I finish all of them. I will be starting next week with happiness and so on with the others, which I am hoping my perspective of such themes can influence someone for better.
